Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Ingredient Scan is an Android app from a developer in Northern Ireland (Cloudy NI / LuckyTools).
2. What data the app handles
- Profile choices you set — allergens, vegan/halal/kosher and related lifestyle toggles.
- Scan history & favourites — products and analyses you open, stored locally.
- Camera / photo content — only when you choose to scan a barcode or capture a label (OCR / optional crowdsourced submission).
- Purchase state — Premium entitlement via Google Play Billing (managed by Google).
3. Data that stays on your device
Dietary profiles, scan history, favourites, and product caches are stored in the app’s local storage (including SQLite). We do not operate a cloud account that stores your profile for you. Uninstalling the app or clearing app storage removes this local data on most devices.
4. Network and third parties
- Open Food Facts — when online, barcode lookups may query the public Open Food Facts database. That request is for product data; see their terms/privacy for how that project handles traffic.
- Optional crowdsourced product submission — only if you explicitly submit product details; you control that action.
- Google Play — installs, updates, and in-app purchases are handled by Google under Google’s policies.
Ingredient analysis for your profile runs on-device. This build does not include AdMob or Firebase Analytics from the developer.
5. Permissions
Camera / photos are used only for scanning barcodes, reading ingredient text (OCR), or optional submission flows you start. Images are not uploaded without your explicit action where a submission feature applies.
Internet is used for optional product lookups and Play billing, not for continuous background tracking by us.
6. Purchases
Optional Premium is sold through Google Play Billing. Payment details are processed by Google, not by us. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
7. Advertising
This version does not include third-party advertising SDKs from the developer.
8. Children
The app is a general utility. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children on our servers (we do not operate a personal-data account system for the app).
9. Your choices and rights
You can change or clear your profile in the app, clear Android app storage, or uninstall. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under UK GDPR / GDPR; contact us and we will help where we can. Because we do not hold a server-side profile about you, most requests are fulfilled by local deletion on the device.

11. Security
We use the standard Android app sandbox for local storage. No method of electronic storage is 100% secure.
12. Not medical advice
Ingredient Scan is a consumer helper for reading labels and matching your self-declared preferences. It is not a medical device and does not replace professional medical or dietary advice. Always check packaging and consult a clinician for allergies or medical diets.
13. Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top will change when we do.
