The sounds

One hundred sounds, six groups

Screams and voices, creepy FX, monsters and undead, gore and impacts, ambient drones and stingers. Forty of them are free and sixty are in the bonus pack. They are recorded, mixed and bundled with the app — nothing streams, so nothing stutters.

Screams & voices

Sixteen ways to make someone jump

Blood-curdling scream, panic shriek, horrified yell, ghostly whisper, witch cackle, a creepy child's giggle, a demon growl — plus a wailing banshee, breathing behind you and a full unholy choir.

Creepy FX

Doors, chains and clocks

Long door creak, cellar door slam, rattling chains, a coffin lid thud, a slow ticking clock, a séance knock, a music box losing power and a clock tower striking thirteen.

Monsters & undead

Twenty things in the walls

Distant wolf howls, a pack closing in, fluttering bats, a rat swarm, raven caws, a zombie groan and a whole horde, a banshee's wail and a werewolf mid-transformation.

Gore & impacts

Seventeen hits that land

Bone crunch and snap, a skull cracking open, knife scrape, glass shattering, a body hitting the floor, saw through bone and a chainsaw revving.

Ambient drones

Seventeen beds that loop for hours

Thunder and rain, howling wind, a haunted mansion drone, a graveyard at night, dark church organ, heartbeat, ritual drums and a cathedral choir — one at a time, gapless, cross-faded when you switch.

Stingers & chants

Twelve for the moment the door opens

An orchestral horror sting, a trio of evil laughs, a midnight chime, an exorcism chant and a doom choir swell.

Mixing

Overlap, don't interrupt

Screams fire over the top of the bed you are looping, and a one-shot dips other apps' music instead of stopping it. Stop all silences everything with one tap.

Haunted Doorway

Leave the phone by the door

The app fires a random scare from the groups you choose, at the interval you choose, while you get on with the party. It is the Halloween doorbell that does not need a script.

Pick the pace

Frequent (20–40 s), balanced (30–60 s) or patient (60–120 s). Each scare can flash the screen like lightning and thump the phone, or stay silent and let the audio do the work.

It stops on its own

Choose an auto-stop of 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours, so a haunting cannot outlive the party — and never a loop, because a bed would never end.

Works with the screen off

Turn on background haunting and the app runs a foreground service with its own notification: Stop and Scare now are one tap away, even from the lock screen.

Choose the voices

Haunt with screams only, creatures only, or everything at once. The bonus sounds join the rotation as soon as they are unlocked.

What it asks Android for

Notifications, so a haunting can keep running with the screen off; a foreground service (media playback) while it runs; a short wake lock; haptics for the optional thump; and network access for advertising on the free tier. No microphone, no camera, no location, no contacts — the app cannot record anything.

The price is deliberately not fixed on this page: Google Play is the merchant of record, so the amount you pay is always the amount shown on the Play purchase sheet when you confirm, including local tax. Ads never interrupt a looping bed or a running haunting, and a full-screen ad can only appear after twelve plays, three minutes apart, and never in the first thirty seconds of a session.

Good to know

Honest limitations

What this app is — and what it is not — before you download it.

As loud as your phone

Loudness, audio quality and the gap between a tap and the sound depend on your device and its speaker. There is no amplifier and no volume beyond your phone's own maximum.

Pranks are your responsibility

A sudden noise can frighten children, pets and people with a heart condition, a hearing aid or sound sensitivity. Keep the volume reasonable, and never use it where a startle could cause a fall.

Background scares need permission

Haunted Doorway runs with the screen off only if you allow notifications and your phone's battery settings permit it. Some devices stop background work early — turning off battery optimisation for the app helps.
